Joseph Caravalho, a Kaneohe, Hawaii, native, who serves as surgeon general, Multi-National Force – Iraq, inside division headquarters. The Order of Military Medical Merit recognizes excellence and promotes fellowship and esprit de corps among the Army Medical Department and denotes distinguished service for individuals who have clearly demonstrated the highest standards of integrity and moral character, displayed an outstanding degree of professional competence, served in the Army Medical Department with selflessness, and made sustained contributions to the betterment of Army Medicine. The ceremony was seen by Ristedt’s family back in Fort Hood, Texas, via video teleconference.
