Elena Klionsky began playing piano at the age of five in her native St. Petersburg, Russia and gave her first public performance when she was six years old.
Over the years she has performed in Carnegie Hall, and with the Moscow State Symphony, St. Petersburg Camerata and Russian Federal Orchestra. Elena’s solo recitals, orchestral appearances and television performances have taken her across the United States, to Canada and Mexico, and through Western Europe and Southeast Asia.
Elena’s career came to an abrupt halt in 2002. She suffered a severe hand injury that left her unable to complete daily tasks, and ultimately, severed her dreams of continuing to do what she loved. Even though doctors told Elena she would never play the piano again, she rose from tragedy and has regained the use of her hand.
After years of painful physical therapy and rehabilitation, Elena has finally returned to doing what she loves – creating musical masterpieces with her hands. As TransMedia’s CEO Tom Madden explains, “Elena earned the nickname ‘Piano Phoenix’ for her rise from sustaining severe physical trauma to once again gracing the world’s stages with her artistry.”
Ms. Klionsky will be performing three concerts at The Chalfonte in Boca Raton on December 28th, January 25th and February 22nd. A portion of the proceeds are to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
