Rural Rhythm recording artist, MELONIE CANNON returns to the Grand Ole Opry for a performance this Saturday night, November 29, 2008 at the Ryman Auditorium. Prior to that evening’s performance, she will appear on WSM’s Opry Warm-Up Radio Show with host Keith Bilbrey at 6:00 PM.
“I’ve grown up at the Opry attending many performances with my Daddy (songwriter and producer Buddy Cannon). It feels like home to me. Some of my fondest memories are being backstage and jammin’ in the dressing rooms. The Grand Ole Opry is where I’ve met so many of my idols including one of my favorites, Connie Smith,” said Melonie. It was with the release of Melonie’s first album in 2004 that she made her first appearance with her band and has performed numerous times since then on the famous Grand Ole Opry stage.
Melonie is celebrating the release of her new album, “And The Wheels Turn,” along with the first single radio release, “I Call It Gone.” In January, “Back to Earth,” a beautiful duet performed with and written by country legend Willie Nelson, will be released to Country radio. “Cannon and Willie Nelson sound like Angels on this one,” said Country Stars Online
“With her sophomore effort, And The Wheels Turn, she continues to hone in on her acoustic country/bluegrass flavored sound but takes it to a whole new level and shows just how much she has grown as an artist over the past few years. Her vocals and lyrics, as with most great country music, is what carries a majority of the songs. Overall this is a solid album and it’s a safe bet that any country fan from traditional to modern to bluegrass and acoustic country is going to find something to love about this album as it crosses genres and blends them together perfectly,” said Today’s Country Magazine.
Look for Melonie in the December 2008 issue of Performing Songwriter Magazine where she is featured alongside other diverse artists like the All-American Rejects, Q-Tip, Joey + Rory, the Supersuckers and John Corigliano.
