Stevie Nicks: Gallery Opening Review

Stevie Nicks – Private Exhibition Party of Polaroids

It was clear that Stevie Nicks is older and ever bolder, on last Thursday night. She and the producer of her new album (“24 Karat Gold – Songs from the Vault”), Dave Stewart (formerly of the Eurythmics), flanked by friends and fellow Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie, decided to collectively climb the mountain of hand-held mobile devices.

They turned heads around with a bunch of Stevie’s back-to-the-future, pre-technoid selfies on display at an opening exhibition in the famed Morrison Hotel Gallery in Manhattan.

Highlighted were several Polaroid photographs – each artistically and creatively staged and shot by Stevie herself in the wee hours of the morning at different times during the Seventies and Eighties.

This exhibition offers a delightful and intimate introduction to a legend who needs no introduction – because, even if an alien-being from some distant planet floats into the gallery located in SoHo – never having read Stevie Nicks’ lyrics or heard her soul piercing expression in song – I’d bet that just seeing her reflections on those soft colored walls would explain to that alien-being exactly why the rock icon is the ‘Landslide’ hit that continues to bring the house down.

Although often afraid of the changes that have spawned the ubiquitous impulsive superficial selfies of today, this show reassures me that the child within my heart can rise above and sail through the changing ocean tides.

So, regardless of the season of your life, get yourself to the Morrison Hotel Gallery and explore the Stevie Nicks show before snow covers the hills.
