Digital Marketing Changes Rapidly: 5 Examples of Trends to Look Out for in 2019

Technology passes by us like a hurricane at times.

Digital marketing changes along with it. When smartphones became ubiquitous, people made mobile websites. When retargeting became possible it was utilized.

As old methods pass on in favor of newer ones it can be hard to remain abreast of current best practices.

2019 isn’t going to be any different. If you’re looking for examples of trends that are sure to take off as the year unfolds then read on, we’ve been keeping an eye on the pulse of the digital marketing community and we have some important predictions to make.

1. Content Marketing Remains Huge

Content marketing is the basis of most people’s digital marketing campaigns. Currently, it looks like it’s going to continue to rate highly throughout the next year.

For good reason, too. A vast majority of the techniques used to gain customers online rely on content marketing as their base.

Without it, you may as well be renting billboards and passing out flyers instead of taking advantage of the vast improvements which are offered in a digital medium over traditional advertising.

2. Voice Search Optimization

People type queries and ask questions differently.

For those who aren’t aware, 27% of the population uses voice searching. It’s changing the face of digital marketing, or rather the SEO subset of it.

People ask full questions when using voice search, rather than the abbreviated phrases we often use when making a traditional query. Make sure you’re spending some time doing keyword research that fits with the new paradigm for the best results.

3. Responsive Website Design

Mobile continues to be a driving force in the digital marketing world, and RWD will allow your website to automatically resize for various screens. After all, if there’s one thing that users hate it’s having to scroll horizontally to get all the information on a page.

This website is a good example of RWD. You’ll note that it changes format on different devices, making it readable no matter what screen you pick it up on.

You’re going to lose out if you don’t ensure your sites are able to be viewed across the board.

4. Chatbots

Chatbots look to be here to stay, at least through the next year.

They’re quick, efficient, and can answer a customer’s queries without requiring a person to be involved in most cases. The market is currently worth $1.25 billion so it looks to be more than a flash in the pan.

5. Programmatic Advertising

Programmatic advertising uses machine learning for PPC advertising to optimize for conversion.

Basically, the program will handle the bulk of the work of managing bids. It may not seem like a lot but the more advanced programs “learn” and manage things.

It’s not perfect but it allows you more time to handle the nuts and bolts of a campaign instead of getting bogged down in the details for hours a day.

Just Some Examples of Trends, Not All of Them

The truth is that something world changing for digital marketers can come along at any time. These are just some examples of trends which seem to be taking the digital marketing world by storm.

It’s important to be aware of these trends, and to utilize them in your campaigns. It’s also important to make sure that you continue to keep an eye out for innovations as time goes on.
