It is sad that Greeks and their sympathizers can not see past their own big noses on this issue. A couple of points that I must take issue with in this article.

The whole issue of FYROM's name is not the inclusion of 'Macedonia' in it, but rather tha 'added extra' to differentiate it from the other Macedonia regions in Greece and Bulgaria.

Is it that by calling itself Macedonia, the republic somehow 'appropriates' the name of a wider geographic region exclusively for itself?

It has been GENETICALLY proven that the Macedonians of the Republic of Macedonia are direct descendants of the ancient Macedonians, through a study conducted in Spain in 2001.

I would recommend that you read Eujene Borza from Philadelphia University. He is the world class specialist in Macedonian studies.

It became a Roman province and later a Byzantine province. It was occupied by the Ottoman empire and finally it became part of the indepented Greek state in 1912.
