Two Police Officers Face Carnapping Charges in Assam

Police Register Case Against Two Officers With Alleged Link To Auto Theft Gang

On Monday, Assam police registered a case against two police officers with alleged links to a car theft gang.

A top Guwahati city police official said two police officers were suspected of having links to an auto theft racket. A case was registered against DSP Moni Saikia and SI Moscow Saikia at Dispur police station.

“We filed a case no 723/15 under sections 120(B)/212/222/379 of IPC against those officials in alleged link with the kingpin of auto theft gang Anil Chauhan,” the police official said.

Police cast a wide net in this case, arresting the auto theft racket kingpin, his wife Rita Chauhan, Assam Congress legislator Dr Rumi Nath, Dr. Nath’s estranged second husband Jacky Zakir, and Dr. Nath’s Personal Security Officer, Debabrata Borpatra Gohain.

Police Seize Weapons, Fake Number Plates From Car Thief House

Police also recovered a number of incriminating documents from a bank locker registered to Anil Chauhan on Monday.

Police had previously seized 17 bank accounts from Anil Chauhan.
