Sukhoi-30 MKI Fighter Jet Crashed in Assam, Pilots Ejected Safely

An Indian Air Force (IAF) Sukhoi SU-30 MKI fighter jet crashed in Assam’s Nagaon district Tuesday, after developing a technical problem.

Officials indicated that both pilots ejected safely.

A top IAF official in Tezpur said the incident took place in the Baralimari area near Laokhowa wildlife sanctuary in Nagaon district around 12:30 pm.

“The aircraft had taken off from the Tezpur Salanibari Air Force Station on a routine mission. After take off, the aircraft developed a technical problem and the pilots were forced to abandon and ejected safely,” the IAF official said.

“The aircraft lost connection with the radar at the air force station after take off and crashed around 12:30 pm,” the official said.

The air force ordered an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident.
