Two NDFB(s) Over Ground Workers Arrested in Assam

Security forces in Assam’s Chirang district arrested two NDFB(S) workers on Saturday.

A defence spokesman based in Guwahati said the army and police, working together in a joint operation, located and arrested what they called “an over ground worker of the outfit.” The arrested man was identified as Chakra Brahma, from Kusumdish area of the BTAD district.

“The apprehended individual has been actively supporting NDFB(S) terrorists. He has confessed on providing food, ration and guiding to 35-40 terrorists across Al river in Chirang district, who were on the run after their major camp was busted by security forces in Kokrajhar district on May 7. He also confessed of being paid Rs 5000 by Birbai, a hardcore NDFB(S) militant for this assistance,” the defence spokesman said.

A separate operation resulted in security forces arresting another over ground worker, identified as Thepa Basumutary from the Burijhar area of the BTAD district.

Chirang police said Thepa was involved in extortion, taking money from local people.
