Assam army apprehended two hardcore militants of Adivasi People’s Army (APA) and seized huge cache of arms and ammunition in Assam’s Baska district along Bhutan border on Thursday, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, army launched an operation at Paharpur area in the district along the Indo-Bhutan border and apprehended the militant duo.
“Troops nabbed the militants from Paharpur area who were hiding in the area and planned to trigger an explosion in Assam,” an army official said.
The nabbed militants were identified as Jarkesh Munda and Markus Munda.
Army recovered five rifles, 20 hand grenades and an explosive in their possession.
