Toll Gate Vandalized in Assam

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samittee (KMSS) on Saturday held a protest against the toll gate staff, who, they said, had illegally overcharged trucks an other vehicles passing through the toll gate.

The toll gate, at NH-31 near Bijni in the Chirang district of lower Assam, was damaged by protestors.

According to reports received, KMSS organised hundreds of protesters, some of whom vandalized the toll gate and set an office near the gate on fire.

Toll gate employees were also beaten by protesters.

“KMSS has protested against the toll gates in the state where employees had collected excess money from trucks and other vehicles, which is illegal,” Raju Bora, President of KMSS said.

Chirang police eventually arrived to separate the protesters and control the violent situation.
