Three Militants Nabbed in Assam

Three hardcore militants including two anti-talk faction group of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were nabbed by security forces in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Saturday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of army and Assam police launched search operation at Joratia village under Dhekiajuli police station in the district and nabbed the militants.

The apprehended militants were identified as Bishnu Daimary and Gelong Basumutary of NDFB and Dilip Beg of All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA).

“We apprehended the militants from a house where they were hiding,” a top police official said.

Security forces seized two 7.65 mm pistols, 46 rounds live ammunition and two motorcycles in possession.

Anti-talk NDFB militants are active in the district and other areas of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border and collected fund through extortion.

Recently, a tea planter was killed by the NDFB militants in the district.
