Some Top Political Leaders of Assam In Touch With BJP

Some of Assam’s high-level political leaders, including three from the Congress party have been in touch with the BJP and it is likely they may join the saffron party.

A reliable BJP source said in past three months several political leaders from other parties met the top BJP and RSS leaders to discuss local issues inclusing the forthcoming 2016 assembly poll in the state.

“An ex minister of Congress-led government of Assam had met at least three top leaders of BJP and RSS and he said that at least five Congress MLA’s in the state wanted to join BJP,” the BJP source said.

The president of State BJP unit Siddhartha Bhattacharyee said not only Congress but also another political and non political leaders have been in touch with BJP, but the party has not taken any decision about them joining so far.

“We always welcome them if they will maintain our party policy,” the state BJP unit president said.

Recently, Pradyut Bora, an Assam BJP leader had resigned from the party. He alleged that some BJP MPs and MLAs are working for the Congress party, by remote control.

In his resignation letter to party president Amit Shah, Pradyut Bora specially mentioned Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s name and said the party has taken a decision to promote Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as BJP’S “Model Karyakarta.”
