School Children Visit Historical Places

As many 60 Government Secondary School students from Machhli Kalan, of Mohali District in Punjab, visited historical places in Delhi, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri from 22 December to 26 December, under the leadership of Headmistress Mrs. Kulwinder Kaur and the teachers of the School.

It was the first ever occasion for the girls and boys of the remote village to stay away on an educational trip for such a long period. The group visited one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal and other historical places, including Akabar’s Tomb at Sikandera, the old Fort at Agra and Akabar’s Fort at Fatehpur Sikri. They also visited ancient temples at Mathura and Vrindaban. On the return journey they visited the Red Fort, the Jama Maszid and Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib at Delhi. They also paid homage to the martyrs at the India Gate.

The students enjoyed the journey’s different means of transport like Tongas, Camel cart, Bus, Super fast trains and Metro during this trip.

Students of the 9th and 10th calsses of the school stayed at Gurdwara Guru Ka Taal at Agra and Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib in Delhi. They enjoyed the holy Langar and relished the neat and clean accommodation. Overall cost of the trip was only Rupees 500/- per student.
