Powerful Explosion Rocks Assam Ahead of PM Visit

One Killed, 20 Injured

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam, a powerful explosion rocked Upper Assam on Sunday evening, resulting in one person being killed and 20 others injured in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

The explosion took place in the busy Rajgarh area in Dibrugarh town.

“Suspected militants had triggered the explosion,” a top police official said.

“The bomb was planted by the militants near a truck,” the official said.

The injured persons were rushed to Assam Medical College hospital.

Top police and army officials rushed to the area and launched an operation to apprehend the militants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on November 29 and he will inaugurate the DGP-IGP conference in Guwahati.
