Pakistan Celebrates Its Independence Day

The citizens of Pakistan today celebrated their 64 years of independence.

Pakistan is a democratic parliamentary federal republic. Islam is the Pakistan’s state religion. Its first Constitution of Pakistan was adopted in 1956, but was suspended in 1958 by General Ayub Khan, according to Wikipedia.

US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking in Washington, DC, extended the congratulations of President Obama and the people of the United States, to the people of Pakistan on their National Day.

According to Ms. Clinton, since Pakistan’s independence in 1947, they have worked to build a strong nation that honors your distinct culture and history. She added that day in and day out the Pakistanis demonstrate their unique spirit and resilience as they strengthen security, economic stability, and democratic principles that will benefit all Pakistanis.

“As Qaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah said, “If we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous, we should wholly and solely concentrate on the well-being of the people.” -Ms. Clinton

She stressed that on their joyous occasion, the United States joins the all Pakistanis in celebrating the anniversary of Pakistan’s birth.

Ms. Clinton also underscored that the United States renews its commitment to working with the people of Pakistan to promote greater peace and prosperity for both our people.

The armed forces of Pakistan is considered as the eighth-largest in the world. Its defence forces has close military relation with China and United States. Pakistan predominantly imports military equipments from these two countries.
