KPLT Chairman Killed In Factional Clash

Bijoy Terang, the self styled Chairman of dreaded ultra outfit Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger, responsible for many killings and abductions was shot dead in his own residence late at night.

Mr. Terang, 28 years old, was the target of police and Indian army engaged in counter insurgency operations. Bijoy Terang is the son of Sri Sikari Terang of Rongnihang village, Singnar Gaon. The village is located within the general area of Bagori, close to Kagiranja national park under Barpather police station, in Karbi Anglong district.

Police said he was killed by by some unknown miscreants at his own house last night. His body was sent to Diphu Civil Hospital for autopsy. Villagers and close relatives of the slain militant claimed that recently KPLT fragmented into a number of factions. It was believed that the murder is linked to the organization’s finance secretary, loyal to Bijoy.

No official confirmation of the villagers’ claim has been made by police.
