Naga Extremist Injured in Police Firing At Guwahati

A Naga extremist was seriously injured in police firing, when he tried to deliver consignment arms in Guwahati on Saturday evening, police said.

The incident took place in the Chanmari area of the city. The Naga militant was injured in police firing, when he and two other NSCN (IM) militants tried to deliver the consignment of arms in Guwahati.

“Based on intelligence received, a team of city police launched an operation in the Chanmari area of the city. When police reached the area, the militants had tried to flee from the area and forced us to fire, in which a militant was injured and other two had managed to escape,” a top police official said.

Police recovered a 9mm pistol and ammunition in possession of the injured militant, identified as Semual Bora.

The Police launched a search operation in the city, to find the other two militants who fled.
