Militant Hideout Busted in Kashmir: Police

Srinagar, May 31: Police Tuesday claimed to have busted a militant hide-out in Indian administered Kashmir and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.

“Based on a specific information about the presence of the hideout of Lashkar-e-Toiba militants at a Forest Nursery at Village Nigli Sopore, some 54 kms north of Srinagar, a joint search operation was launched by police and army men. The services of sniffer dogs were also used in the operation,” a police officer said.

He also said during the search operation, the troops managed to bust a hide-out. “Five AK 47 rifles, 10 AK magazines, 1900 AK rounds, 10 hand grenades, one UBGL, 17 UBGL grenades, 13 Pistols, 13 Pistol magazines, 100 Pistol rounds, eight kilograms of explosive and 13 detonators were recovered from the hideout,” he said.

He said further investigations are on.

Meanwhile, a senior army official said troops busted a militant hideout in mountainous Doda district.

“Based on inputs, a joint contingent of police and army men launched a manhunt in Khariyali Got area in Doda. During the search operation, the troops recovered two IEDs, one wireless set, a magazine, 15 rounds, 11 blankets, an iron box, oil containers,” he said.
