Maoists Recuit Assamese Teens

Over 60 maoist rebels of Assam were reportedly trained by NSCN (IM) and Manipur outfit group People’s Liberation Army (PLA) for the past six months in Manipur, Jharkhand and Odisha, said a high official source of Assam police.

The police sources said most of trained rebels were from various areas of Upper Assam.

The maoist had set up few camps in Arunachal Pradesh with the help of anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).

“It came to light after the security forces arrested two hardcore maoist cadres in Golaghat district on Tuesday,” a senior officials of police said.

Security forces apprehended two maoist cadres who were identified as Moon Konwar alias Rahul Gogoi alias Hirak Jyoti Gogoi and Gobin Das alias Dipak Saikia alias Bhaitee from Uriamghat area near Dhansiri in Golaghat district.

The nabbed maoists revealed that the leading committee of upper Assam of CPI (M) and midle Assam have newly recuited over 100 youths in past five months and set up camps along with Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

The nabbed maoist cadre Gobin joined in 2010, whereas Moon joined in the month of August in 2011.

Recently, security forces arrested two maoist rebels from Guwahati city. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Pallav Borbora, who was a private school principal and former leader of a human rights organisation in the state who was allegedly link with rebels.

To counter the rebelss movement in Assam, the state government formed an anti-maoist task force headed by an ADGP of Assam police.
