Maoists Launch Recruitment Drive in Assam

With the growing number of organizations in Assam, the Maoists reportedly kept in touch with some existing organisations in the state and launched a recruitment drive.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi admitted that Maoists in Assam met some local organisations.

In a press conference in Guwahati, Gogoi said Maoists have been trying to reach out to the unemployeed youths in the state.

“We gathered information about the issue and asked the central government to address the issue,” Gogoi said.

Mr. Gogoi asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about the issue during his last trip to Assam on April 20.

He sought the economic and technical assistance for the unemployeed youths in the state, Mr. Gogoi added.

He stressed that Maoists will grow if the government would not take any preventive steps.

“We urged to the central government to looked the unemployment problem in the state. We need more schemes to generate employment among the youths entire the state,” he said.

Recently, Union Home Ministry raised an alert as Maoist gradually setup their bases and launched recuitment drive in few districts in the state.

The intelligence report said the Maoist had setup few camps in Arunachal Pradesh and bordering areas of Assam-Arunachal with help of outlawed ULFA.
