KPLT Militant Killed in Assam Gun Battle

A hardcore militant of Karbi People Liberation Tigers (KPLT) was killed and one more injured in a gun battle with security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday, police said.

“Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army launched a search operation at Dentaghat area in the hills district on the wee hours of Wednesday, where a militant group were hiding,” a police official said.

One militant was killed on the spot and one more injured.

Security forces recovered one 9 mm pistol with magazine and ammunition from the slain militant.

Meanwhile, a source of Karbi Anglong police said a 40 members group of the outfit wil surrender before security forces before August 15.

“A top leader of the outfit has discussed with top police officials for their willingness to surrender,” he said.

In August 7, the outfit group sent a video footage of their armed cadres to media.

KPLT is active in Karbi Anglong and bordering areas of Nagaon and Golaghat district.

In past 45 days, at least five top leaders of the militant group wered killed in gun battle with security forces in the hill districts and security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions.
