Kashmiri Youth Injured in 2010 Unrest Dies After 13-Months

Srinagar, Oct 12: An 18-year-old youth died on Wednesday, 13 months after sustaining critical injury in paramilitary forces firing during last year’s summer unrest in Indian administered Kashmir.

“Muzaffar Ahmad Mir succumbed to injuries at his residence at Kadalbal, Pampore, some 15 kms South of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, this morning. He had a suffered spinal cord injury when paramilitary forces opened fire at four boys on September 13, 2010. While three others had died last year, Muzaffar lost the battle this morning,” his family members said.

Soon after the news about his death spread, people in large numbers visited his residence to express condolences with the bereaved family. Shops and other business establishments were closed while traffic was off the road.

Meanwhile, separatist leaders including Mohammad Yaseen Malik and Shabir Ahmad Shah visited the area and participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased youth.
