Incessant Intervention of India Drowns Nepal

Never like before in its history has Nepal witnessed such attacks on its existence. In their tussle for power, the brokers have branded the King as a tyrant. They have rendered him weak and removed him and in this way they have bargained the nation.

Nepal’s King is not like those of Britain and Spain, who were brought after carrying out a search. It will be fatal for the nation to revolt in favor of republic. Before 2006, the government under the leadership of Nepali Congress leader late Girija Prasad Koirala under Indian direction sold many Nepalese industries. Many industries went bankrupt. Wool industry was closed. The cotton cultivation turned into a barren land. Nepal was transformed into an Indian market. The only profitable industry of air transportation- RNAC was destroyed. The import and export sectors and customs were turned into a corruption package.

The Indian intervention increased with the birth of democracy in Nepal. The corrupt regime holders of this country have been its misfortune. India has misused these politicians to retain its hold on Nepal. India has been conspiring in many ways making use of the open border to influence Nepal. Among many points devised by India in order to retain Nepal under its umbrella is- ‘Constituent Assembly’, which had been its chief agenda since 1950.

Due to King Mahendra and patriotic Nepali people India could not penetrate with its interference from 1961-1989. Although it backed the opposition leaders during the 1989 uprising, what it had actually sought it could not attain. In November, 2005 India invited UML, Nepali Congress and Maoists to Delhi, and took the initiative in the signing of 12-point agreement that ultimately presented India in the role of an intruder. Majority of newspapers of this country came under the influence of money, and supported the continuation of the nude intervention.

Media and television networks were invested to turn fake and artificial reports into legitimate propagandas. Indian ambassador and its leaders further pumped the brokers here to foist upon the dangerous agendas of republic, secularism and federalism, and capture the regime. The Congress, UML and Madhesi leaders still give nods to whatever is being tabled by the leaders of Indian intelligence organization. Nepali people are suffering from Indian high handedness.

They supported republic by following the direction of India and America, and under the influence of power and money. In Nepal, Communists’ did not dispose of the royal institution. The communists’ that were of the period before 2005 were known to be nationalists and supportive of poor people. However, the communists’ that took part in the bloody uprising that preceded the signing of the 12-point agreement in 2005 under Indian intelligence organization’s backing, cannot be taken as nationalists. They are better known as foreign brokers.

Nepali Congress rise to popularity and power was possible only because it refrained from pointing out Indian intervention and its conspiracies. The leaders of Congress are not patriot but there are so many nationalistic cadres in NC, but they are helpless.

When India annexed Sikkim in 1976, BP Koirala, after understanding dangerous Indian design, made a resolution to participate in the national politics that would find reconciliation with the King and keep Nepal’s sovereignty intact. Nepali Congress that had chosen the path of constitutional monarchy under the guidance of BP’s ideology after 1989 is now treading the path of republic. This is also the reason of NC’s destruction. UML is known to be an opportunist broker party. The nation’s situation is perilous because the leadership level is occupied by foreign brokers.

Yes, among us, we may support republic and secularism. It is a different issue when advocating for republic on basis of the desire of all citizens. But is it not tantamount to being a foreign broker to support republic on account of foreign persuasion? As a result the appearance and description of communists’ has turned into a foreign broker and corrupt and destructors.

A survey carried out by Sudhindra Sharma and Pawankumar Sen with a question ‘Where is the nation heading?’ was published in Kantipur on 24 February, 2011. The survey states, ’62 percentages have said that the nation is heading towards a wrong direction.’ Adding up those saying ‘doesn’t know’ and ‘don’t want to tell’ we can surmise from the survey that 80 percentages have said that the nation is heading towards the wrong direction. This proves that the situation faced by the nation is grave. The political leaders of the parties are bent on drowning the nation; we have to save our nation from their clutches.

The distribution of Nepali citizenship certificates to foreigners also proves the notion that Nepal is being turned into a foreign battle field. Advocate Balkrishna Neupane writes on this conspiracy to turn Nepali people into minority, ‘4 million Indian nationals and some Tibetan refugees were provided with Nepali citizenship on the basis of interim constitution 2006 article 8 (5) and Nepal Citizenship Act 2006.

The political parties were seen actively participating in this campaign of distributing the citizenship. Some human rights and feminist activists voice for adopting equality in the subject of citizenship. Equality is possible between equals. There can not be equality between two unequal subjects. Nepali women have the right to marry any national. If the husbands of these women are to be provided Nepali citizenship on basis of equality, and they are to live here, then where will the sons of this country go? If the citizenship is to be granted to foreigners marrying Nepali women and subsequently to their children then no one will be able to save Nepal from becoming another Fizi.

The political parties that shout slogans of national independence drafted this easy act to distribute citizenship to foreigners.’ We are not able to manage our own population. If this act of distributing citizenship to foreigners is not abolished, none of us, whether of Terai or of Himalayan region, will remain secure in our own nation. An individual without a Nepali citizenship is included in the voters’ name list, and on this very basis the individual will be able to take part in the election and on this account the individual will obtain a Nepali citizenship.

What will happen to the nation’s future?

A veteran doctor and analyst, Dr. J.N Pandey has said on the deteriorating situation of Nepal, ‘Had King Mahendra not brought about a transformation in 1960 the nation would have lost its identity then. Those who had opposed the Panchayat system and royal institution are now the political leaders. The ongoing politics is imported by these leaders from abroad. In the Labanya Desh (Sankhu of Kathmandu), which is on our own soil, the political fighting had taken an extreme form. It is written and told in Swasthani and Purans (Hindu religious books) that the King was removed at first and later after the people realized that the King was a necessity, a young prince was given a flower festoon and put on an elephant.

It says that Nepal’s identity will not remain without a royal institution.

Among the chief organs of the state respected by Nepali people are Supreme Court, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Nepal government. After 2006 foreign brokers have taken over Nepal government. What will happen if the Supreme Court chooses the same path? It is mentioned in the constitution that the lifespan of Constituent Assembly will not be more than 2 years.

The 25 February, 2011 edition of Gorkhapatra (Nepalese Govt. Newspaper) has reported that the Supreme Court, after the constitution was not drafted in the stipulated timeframe of 2 years, went on to change the definition by itself and gave a verdict, which was against constitutionalism and theory of natural justice, that the period of the Constituent Assembly would remain until the promulgation of the new constitution. Many constitutional and law experts have branded this a grave defect.

Constitutional expert and advocate Bhimarjun Acharya writes-‘Supreme Court verdict is against the mandate of people. If an organization formed under the guidance of people’s mandate is to continue for eternity then it will bring anarchy. This is against the people’s right to vote.’ This proves that the SC is trying to make irresponsible broker CA members immortal. Although, that verdict may be decided by some party oriented corrupt judges but it will be precedent.

All the political analysts, constitutional and legal experts have raised an opposition against this verdict. On 27 February, advocate and legal expert Bhimarjun Acharya in Kantipur, Anarsingh Karki in Annapurna Post, political analyst Badrinarsigh K.C in Rajdhani had published analytical article.

In their article they have highlighted the importance of constitutionalism by attacking the character and intention of Supreme Court justices involved in political brokering. Due to the bad intentions haboured by SC justices it has instilled distrust among the people. SC must punish such dubious justices. SC chief justice Ram Prasad Shrestha has denounced the lawyers’ decision to continue the term of the Constituent Assembly. We shall see how chief justice’s pledge can uphold the honour of the judiciary.

The Nepal Army has been silently witnessing the nation’s drowning. So there is no alternative to Nepali people from all sectors to take up arms, Khukuri, batons and whatever that may come in handy to fight against traitors. If we continue to witness silently as the nation drowns we will degrade to the level below that of the Bhutanese refugees. We will become refugee that begs. In spite of our nation, we will become orphaned, if we continue to remain apathetic to the plight created by 20/30 traitors. India wants this to happen.

These broker-politicians will not make a new constitution. If the constitution is made and sent from India then it can never be supported. We cannot accept this incessant intervention from India. Hence, it is obligatory that we return to the 1990 constitution with the presence of King to stabilize the nation. There is no alternative for Nepali people than to unite under a common resolve to rid the nation of foreign intervention and corruption.
