Illegal Arms Manufacturing Factory Proliferates in Nagaland

Security forces have busted an illegal arms manufacturing factory and seized huge cache of arms-ammunitions in Kohima, capital of Nagaland on Thursday.

“Based on intelligence report, a team of Assam police had launched a search operation at Razhu point in heart of Kohima town and busted an illegal arms manufacturing factory which was operated at a house,” police said.

Security forces seized four 9mm pistols, six double barrel guns, nine point 22 rifles, 24 single barrel guns, 11 air guns, pistols, magazines, ammunitions and a vehicle during the operation.

Assam police also arrested the owner of the house.

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) report said Dimapur, Kohima and some other areas of the northeastern Indian state have becomed a big market of illegal arms.

Few insurgent groups have operated the illegal arms trade in north east region which came from China, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Recently, an illegal arms trade group nabbed by the security forces at Sonapur area near the Guwahati city and seized huhe cache of arms-ammunitions which came from Dimapur.
