HuJI Email Traced to Kashmir, Cafe Owner Among 5 Detained

Srinagar, Sept 8: The Indian security personnel investigating yesterday’s blast in the Indian capital have traced the HuJI email claiming responsibility for the blast to a cybercafe in the mountainous Kishtwar region of Indian administered Kashmir and detained five persons including the cafe owner and his brother.

Official sources said police in the early hours today conducted a raid on the house of Global Internet Cafe owner Khawaja Mehmood Aziz in Kishtwar and detained him, his brother Khwaja Khalid Aziz and Manager Cyber Cafe Ashwani Kumar for questioning.

The Global Cyber cafe, where from the HuJI email was sent, is located in busy Malik Market in Shaheedi road Kishtwar. Later, police sealed the cyber cafe. Policemen in plain clothes have been deputed outside the cafe in Kishtwar town and are keeping a close watch on the movement of people.

The main owner of the Cyber Cafe is an engineer by profession while his brother Khalid Aziz is trained in mobile repairing.

“On the information provided by the cyber cafe owner, his brother and manger, police later detained two students of Degree College Kishtwar – Imran Hussain Sheikh and Ashaq Hussain,” police sources said.

They said different police teams were questioning the five persons detained so far.

“The owner of the Global Internet Cafe had not maintained any register for a record about the people who had used the Internet there,” they said.

They said an investigation team led by DIG Farooq Khan interrogated the owners of the cyber cafe to know more about the person, who had sent the email to media houses. “The computer experts were scanning the computers that were seized from the Internet cafe,” they said

Sources said a student is suspected to have sent the email to the media houses. “The police investigators have some vital clues about the physical appearance of the youth who sent the email at around 1 PM yesterday. A manhunt has been launched to identify and track him down,” they said.

They said the suspect used cabin 3 of Cyber Cafe for sending the email. The Cyber Cafe has overall 6 cabins.

The email was sent from the address harkat-uljihadi2011@gmail.com. HuJI had yesterday claimed responsibility for the blast outside the Delhi High Court which killed 12 people.

“We own responsibility of the blast at the High Court, Delhi. Our demand is that Afzal Guru’s death sentence should be repealed immediately as we would target major High Courts and the Supreme Court of India,” the HuJI email had said.
