Garo Rebels Abduct Three Road Construction Engineers

Garo rebels abducted three engineers of a road construction company in Meghalaya on Saturday, police said on Sunday.

Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants abducted three engineers of the Hyderabad road construction company BSC-C & C (JV) at gunpoint from Dambu Aga reserve forest area in East Garo Hills.

A top police official said Manoj Kumar, Deepak Kumar and AK Sharma were abducted when they returned to the Assam camp from the construction site.

Security forces launched a search operation to trace the abducted engineers.

The Hyderabad construction company is building the 94 km long two lane road construction project at an estimated of Rs 1494 crore connecting between Shillong to Tura.

The Garo rebels abducted two ginger businessmen Idanul Islam and Mosa Bapari at gunpoint from Damal Asim in West Garo Hills on Friday.
