Eight People Killed in Three Separate Incidents in Assam

Eight people were killed and 10 others injured in three separate incidents in Assam on Sunday morning, officials said.

Three people were killed and eight others injured in a road mishap in Nagaon district on Sunday morning.

The accident took place at NH-37 near Rantholi under Raha police station.

“A bamboo laden truck fell down on a Tata Indica car after colliding with a truck,” a police official said.

Three people were killed on the spot and eight others were injured. The injured persons were admitted to Nagaon civil hospital.

The victims were identified as Sahjahan Ali and Irani Begum and another person has yet to be identified.

In a separate incident, four people were killed by miscreants in lower Assam’s Baska district on Saturday night.

The incident took place at Gerua Ashram near Baganpara area in the district, where local villagers found four bodies in a paddy field and informed the police.

“Miscreants killed them with sharp weapons,” a police official said.

Police recovered two mobile handsets near the bodies and launched a search operation to nab the miscreants.

The victims were identified as Bijoy Boro, Hemanta Boro, Phungkha Boro and Raju Boro.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and two others were injured when a truck skidded off from road and fell down at Palashbari area near Mirza in Kamrup (Rural) district on Sunday morning.

The injured persons were rushed to a local hospital.
