Dussehra Festival Burns Effigies of King Ravan in Triumph of Good Over Evil

All over India, people celebrate the festival of Dussehra with enthusiasm. Effigies of King Ravan were burned to signify the victory of good over evil.

In New Delhi, the celebration is held at Ramlila Maidan, also known as Ramlila Ground, a large area located in front of the historic Red Fort, which used to be a pond, until it was filled in in 1930.

Newsblaze’s New Delhi photographer Sumit Tharan captures the stunning images of the celebrations. Click the small images to see all the detail in a larger version.
