CRPF Sub-Inspector Kills Colleague in Assam

A CRPF Sub Inspector shot and killed a Havaldar from his own unit, CRPF 34-G company, while they were in Assam’s Nagaon district on Monday. The rank of Havaldar is similar to a Sergeant.

The name of the dead Havaldar was 45-year-old Ashok Singh Tomar. They were in the CRPF camp at Hojai in the Nagaon district.

The name of the Sub-Inspector, released by local police, was 51-year-old Simro Ram.

Ram used an AK-47 to shoot the Havaldar. He did not die immediately, but died after being taken to the local hospital.

Sub-Inspector Ram ran to Hojai police station, surrendering his AK-47 at that time.

“When Ashok Singh Tomar was taking to the magazine guard before leaving for the railway station for his next posting in Srinagar, Sub-Inspector Simro Ram (51 years) arrived there and shot three rounds from his AK-47 rifle targeting Ashok,” a top police official said.

The dead Havaldar, Ashok Singh Tomar, was originally from Madhya Pradesh.
