Communial Clash Kills Nine People in Assam

At least nine people, including a women and a minor boy were killed and eight others injured during a communial clash in Assam’s Kokrajhar district since Thursday.

Reports say army and para military forces have been deployed in the district and the district administration have imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am.

Three people including a woman were shot dead and eight others injured by miscreants at Parura under Fakiragram in the district on Saturday, police said.

“The clash between bodos and non-bodos has continued since Thursday night, when two non-bodo people were injured when they were allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants. Since that incident, violence has been spread in the whole the district.

On Friday night, four bodo people were shot dead in the Joypur area in the district.

A minor boy was also killed by miscreants in the Narabari area on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Assam Transport minister, Chandan Brahma, rushed to the district and appealed to all people to stop the fighting.
