Assam Security Forces Apprehend Two Maoist Cadres

Security forces apprehended two maoist cadres in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Sunday, police said.

Following a tip-off, police launched operation at Tengakhat area in the upper Assam district and nabbed the left wing extremists.

The nabbed militants were identified as Pradeep Dham alias Robert and Bijoy Bauri.

“The nabbed militants are the political wing members of the outfit,” a top police official said.

Assam police had arrested at least nine left wing extremists including two maoist central committee members in the state in the past five weeks.

Recently, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the left wing extremists had set up bases in nine districts of the state and continuing recruitment drive.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has urged the Union Home ministry to declare all the nine districts of the state as maoist dominated districts.
