Assam Police Released Photographs of Five Culprits and Announced Cash Reward

Guwahati, July 14 (IBNS): The Assam police on Saturday released five accused persons photographs including Amar Jyoti Kalita, one of the prime accused of the girl molestation case in Guwahati city on the night of July 9th.

Police announced a cash reward for information of the accused persons involved in connection with the case as Rs 50,000 for Amar Jyoti Kalita and Rs 25,000 each for other four accused persons.

The Guwahati city police registered a case (no 191/2012) under section 341/143/294/323/354/379/366 IPC at Bhangagarh police station.

“We apprehended four accused persons so far and an investigation is going on,” Guwahati SSP Apurba Jiwan Baruah said.

Meanwhile, Assam chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has set a 48 hours deadline for the Assam police to nab the culprits, who were identified in the video footage.

In other hand, local people of the Bijni area in Chirang district nabbed one of the culprits involved in the girl molestation case on Saturday.

The nabbed person was identified as Ghanashyam Mallik, who is a labourer of a factory in the Amingaon area in Guwahati city.
