Assam Government Appoints Inquiry Commission to Solve a Molestation Case

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi finally responded to the molestation incident in Guwahati city and ordered to the Assam police on Friday to take necessary action against the culprits, who were identified involved in the incident.

During a press conference at his official residence in Guwahati, the Assam CM asked the police to take immediate action in the case.

Meanwhile, Assam government appointed a one-member inquiry commission under Additional Chief Secretary of Government of Assam Amili Choudhury on the incident on Friday.

The shameful incident happened at GS road area in Guwahati city on July 9 night, where a 17 year-old girl was molested by a mob and the video was published in local and national media.

Police arrested four persons so far in connection with the case.

“We have identified 11 persons who were involved as seen in the video footage and they will be under our custody very soon,” Assam DGP Jayanta Narayan Choudhury said.

Meanwhile, Team Anna member and leader of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Akhil Gogoi demanded a firm President rule in Assam for its worsening law and order situation in the state.

Several organisations including KMSS, Prithivi, Nirjatit Nari Oikya Mancha protested the incident and arranged a protest rally on July 15 at Dighalipukhuripar in the city.
