Assam Boy Makes It to Guinness World Records

An Assamese boy was officially recognised in the Guinness World Record on Tuesday, as the longest barefooted runner.

A 22-year old boy Abhijit Baruah, hails from Jorhat, who created the feat to have run 156.2 km distance in 24 hours on 31st of January this year. He started his run at 3:56 pm on January 30 and finished it at 3:56 pm on the following day.

A constable of Assam Police, Abhijit was officially registered in Guinness World Record on Tuesday.

On 30th of January this year, Abhijit started his barefooted run from Jorhat.

Thousands of people, Jorhat district administration, clubs gave their support to Abhijit for his endeavors.

“I am very happy and thanks to the people of Assam, who encouraged me to gain this achivement,” Abhijit Baruah said.

Indian representitive of Guinness World Record, Chandrasekhar Tiwari has supervised the run by Abhijit.

Assam Goverment announched an award of Rs 2 lakh to Abhijit.

Abhijit also marked his name in the Limca Book of Records as he ended 150 km run in 26 hours and 31 minutes on 28th of May last year.
