Three People Injured In Assam Serial Blasts

At least three people were injured in four explosions in Lower Assam Kokrajhar district on Monday evening, police said.

The serial explosions took place in the Patgaon area near Kokrajhar town and Gossaigaon area in the Lower Assam district.

Police said that three people were injured in the twin Kokrajhar blasts.

“Suspected militants of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit) lobbed two hand grenades in the Patgaon area where three people including a woman were injured. The militants also fired targeting civilians,” a top police official said.

Suspected militants also lobbed four hand grenades in Gossaigaon area where two grenades exploded.

Security forces recovered two unexploded grenades from the area.

The injured persons were identified as Chatra Maya, Mon Bahadur, Purnima Roy and they were rushed to the local hospital.

Top police and army officials rushed to the blast areas and launched operations against the militants.

Security forces also recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in front of a police station in Upper Assam district Tinsukia on Monday.

An army bomb squad team defused the IED.

“Suspected militants had planted the IED targeting security personnel which was recovered in front of Pengeri police station,” a top police official said.

On Sunday, an IED was exploded in lower Assam Chirang district which was triggered by suspected militants.
