Army Chief Visits Spear Corps in Dimapur

Chief of the Army Staff Bikram Singh on Wednesday visited the Headquarters of 3 Corps (Spear Corps) at Rangapahar, Dimapur in Nagaland.

The Chief of the Army Staff was welcomes by the Lieutenant General Dalbir Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command and Lieutenant General Arun Kumar Sahni, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps.

During the two-day visit, the Army Chief reviewed the operational preparedness, security situation and progress made in the development of infrastructure in the Spear Corps.

He was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the North East and the efforts being administered to combat insurgecny in affected areas of 3 Corps by Lieutenant General Arun Kumar Sahni.

The Army chief addressed the officers of the Corps including Division and Brigade Commanders on the challenges facing the army and efforts required in overcoming these.

He emphasized on the need for maintaining high standard of Operational readiness and discipline. He advised the officers to uphold the cherished core values of integrity, loyalty, selfless service, courage and honour, and also to ensure that the sense of pride and dignity is maintained at all times.

“Officers must take steps to ensure highest standard of motivation and morale of troops under their command,” the Chief Army Staff said.

Army Chief said maintaining peace and tranquility along the border is crucial.

Bikram Singh was appreciative of the high level of operational preparedness, focus on long term all round capability and capacity building endeavours of the Corps.
