Arms and Ammunition Recovered From NDFB(S) Militants in Assam

Huge Cache Of NDFB(S) Arms And Ammo Recovered

Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from NDFB(S) along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Sunday, officials said.

Assam police, Army and NIA jointly launched an operation along the remote inter state border area and recovered the huge cache of arms and ammunition.

A top NIA official said the recovery was made on the basis of the disclosure made by the arrested accused Ajoi Basumutary alias B Buhum who is the self styled commander of 3rd battalion of NDFB(S) and Ajoi was involved in the recent massacre in Sonitpur district, in which 36 innocent Adivasi people were killed, including children and women.

Security forces recovered two AK-56 rifles, one HK-33 rifle, two hand grenades, one M-20 pistol, two HK magazines, five AK magazines, 3 rounds of M-20 ammunition, one round of M-16 ammunition, 123 rounds 5.56mm, 223 AK rounds, three ammunition pouches from the area along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

In Barpeta, security forces arrested a hardcore NDFB(S) cadre.

The arrested militant was identified as D Swargiary.

Security forces have been extremely active in the area since the massacre, and they have arrested and questioned many militants this month.
