4 Killed, 21 Injured in Assam Road Mishap

Guwahati, January 15: At least four people were killed and 21 others injured in two separate road mishaps in Assam on Tuesday, officials said.

Two people were killed and 20 others injured in a road mishap at NH-37 near Kuthori Baghmari of Kaziranga, where a passenger bus (AS- 01- L- 4959) fell down in roadside deep gorge.

“The bus skidded off the road and fell down a deep gorge,” a police official said.

Two people were killed on the spot and the other injured passengers were admitted to the nearest hospital.

One of the deceased was identified as Abdul Malek.

The bus was on the way to Jorhat from Nagaon.

In another incident, a speeding Maruti Swift car (AS- 16- B- 4512) hit three people at Gobardhana near Chaigaon in Kamrup district on Tuesday morning.

“Two people were killed on the spot when the speeding car hit them,” a local villager said. Pulak Das who was injured was rushed to Guwahati Medical College hospital.

The two deceased were identified as Dinesh Nath and Joykumar Nath.
