4 Farmers Kidnapped By NLFT Militants in Tripura

Agartala, May 8: At least four farmers were kidnapped by armed militants of the outlawed group National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) from the Gandacherra area in Dhalai district along the Bangladesh border on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

“The farmers were abducted at gunpoint by armed militants, when they were working in their jhum hat,” a police official said.

The abducted farmers were identified as Pradhanjoy Tripura (27), Rabinjoy Tripura (20), Mahancha Tripura (30) and Charmajoy Tripura (26).

“Among the abducted farmers, militants released Charmajoy Tripura from their captivity, but the others were untraced,” police said.

“We suspect, the abducted farmers sneaked into Bangladesh territory,” said police officials.

Security forces launched a search operation at the border area and informed the Bangladesh Border Guards (BBG) to trace the abducted farmers.
