16 Dam Workers Abducted in Assam’s Karbi Anglong District

Police are still clueless on the whereabouts of 16 dam workers who were abducted by suspected militants in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Sunday evening.

The workers were abducted by the suspected militants from the work site of a hydro project at Longlit area under Manja police station in the hills district on Sunday evening.

A joint team of police CRPF Cobra force and army have launched asearch operation at all probable locations in the district to rescue the abducted dam workers.

“We engaged in search operation but we have found nothing so far. But we expect to rescue them soon,” Karbi Anglong district SP BB Chetry said.

Meanwhile, a high official sources of Karbi Anglong police said militants of Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) were behind the abduction case. However, the militant group has denied the accusation.
