Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner Re-elected as New President of Argentina

The United States of America today congratulated President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner on her re-election as the new president of Argentinia.

Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said the United States also congratulates the millions of Argentines who exercised their right to vote in the elections on 23rd of October. She cited that Argentina’s electoral process illustrates its commitment to democratic governance, a value that we share.

Ms. Nuland stressed that the United States and Argentina share a history of cooperation, and they are committed to continue to strengthen their partnership.
