With the recent attack in US diplomatic post in Bengazi earlier this week which has killed four Americans and made headlines around the world, the United States of America today paid tribute to two security personnel who died helping protect their colleagues.

In her remarks on the deaths of Tyrone S. Woods and Glen A. Doherty in Benghazi in Libya, US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says Tyrone S. Woods and Glen A. Doherty were both decorated military veterans who served United States with honor and distinction.

“Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest gratitude are with their families and friends.” -Ms. Clinton

She says the US embassies could not carry on their critical work around the world without the service and sacrifice of brave people like Tyrone and Glen.

According to Ms. Cliton, Tyrone’s friends and colleagues called him “Rone,” and they relied on his courage and skill, honed over two decades as a Navy SEAL.

In uniform, he served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ms. Clinton stated.

Since 2010, Mr. Woods has protected American diplomatic personnel in dangerous posts from Central America to the Middle East.

Mr. Woods had the hands of a healer as well as the arm of a warrior, earning distinction as a registered nurse and certified paramedic.

“All our hearts go out to Tyrone’s wife Dorothy and his three sons, Tyrone Jr., Hunter, and Kai, who was born just a few months ago.” -Ms. Clinton

The United States also grieve for Glen Doherty, called Bub, and his family: his father Bernard, his mother Barbara, his brother Gregory, and his sister Kathleen.

Ms. Clinton says Glen was also a former Navy SEAL and an experienced paramedic.

Mr. Doherty also put his life on the line many times, protecting Americans in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other hotspots, Ms. Clinton says.

In the end, Mr. Doherty died the way he lived with selfless honor and unstinting valor, Ms. Clinton added.

“We condemn the attack that took the lives of these heroes in the strongest terms, and we are taking additional steps to safeguard American embassies, consulates, and citizens around the world.” -Ms. Clinton

She states that this violence should shock the conscience of people of all faiths and traditions.

The United States appreciates the statements of support that have poured in from across the region and beyond.

People of conscience and goodwill everywhere must stand together in these difficult days against violence, hate, and division, Ms. Clinton emphasized.

“I am enormously proud of the men and women who risk their lives every day in the service of our country and our values.” -Ms. Clinton

She stresses these men help make the United States the greatest force for peace, progress, and human dignity that the world has ever known.

“We honor the memory of our fallen colleagues by continuing their work and carrying on the best traditions of a bold and generous nation.” -Ms. Clinton

This week, the United States of America has mourned the deaths of four American personnel in Benghazi who died in a rocket attack on Wednesday.

Reports say Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya were killed along with three others in a rocket attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi. The death of the US personnel has sparked international condemantion

Ambassador Stevens died last night from injuries he sustained in the attack on US office in Benghazi.

As the conflict in Libya unfolded, Chris was one of the first Americans on the ground in Benghazi, she highlighted.

Mr. Stevens risked his own life to lend the Libyan people a helping hand to build the foundation for a new, free nation. He spent every day since helping to finish the work that he started.

Meanwhile, Sean Smith was a husband and a father of two, who joined the Department ten years ago.

According to Ms. Clinton, Sean was one of the best.

Prior to arriving in Benghazi, he served in Baghdad, Pretoria, Montreal, and most recently The Hague, she noted.

The US condemns this vicious and violent attack that took their lives, which they had committed to helping the Libyan people reach for a better future.

Reports say US Ambassador Christopher Stevens, and three other American diplomats died on Wednesday after an islamist mob in Benghazi Libya gathered to demonstrate against a U.S.-made film. At some point, the demonstration turned violent and shots were fired.

National Transitional Council (NTC) declared the full liberation of Libya on 23 October, more than eight months after the start of the popular uprising against the regime of long-time ruler Colonel Muammar al-Qadhafi.

Mr. Qadhafi, who had been on the run as his regime collapsed, was captured by then opposition fighters on 20 October and killed.

Libya had been engulfed by fighting since a pro-democracy movement opposed to the regime of Muammar al-Qadhafi emerged in February 2011 following similar protests in Tunisia, Egypt and other countries across North Africa and the Middle East.
