AMSTERDAM- A cry launched by a man in the crowd during the two silence minutes in memory of the victims of World War Two triggers a massive stampede: thirty minor injuries, some children wounded, too.
The mayor of the city, Bernard Welten, immediately explained what happened: during the ceremony a man threw a long cry and raised his hands. Then, someone shouted “a bomb, a bomb, let’s run!” unleashing the panic. Even the Dutch queen, Beatrice, had to hastily leave the Dam, the main square of Amsterdam, shaded by the National Monument.
A man, 39 years old, already known to the police due to some drug problems, was immediately arrested.
