A new coalition government was formed in Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, after the former government collapsed on 22nd of August.
Reports say Shantoro Satybaldiev was selected as a new Prime Minister in the new government.
The new government was approved by the Parliament on 5th of September. The new coalition consist of three political parties; The Social Democrats, Ar-Namys (Dignity), and Ata-Meken (Fatherland).
Today, the United States congratulates the Kyrgyz Republic on the formation of a new coalition government and the selection of Jantoro Satybaldiyev as the new Prime Minister.
In Washington DC, Acting Deputy Spokesperson Patrick says the formation of the new coalition government is a testament to the strength of the Kyrgyz Republic’s democratic institutions.
“We look forward to working with the new government and continuing to build upon the strong existing partnership between the United States and the Kyrgyz Republic.” – Mr. Ventrell
Mr. Ventrell says the United States will continue to support the Kyrgyz Republic in its development of inclusive democracy based upon the rule of law, respect for civil society, and human rights.
The former government reportedly collapsed under the strain of the failing economy and graft and corruption issues.
The United States remains committed to the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kyrgyz Republic and to helping the courageous Kyrgyz people achieve their aspirations for developing a peaceful, economically prosperous democracy.
The United States will continue to assist Kyrgyzstan in developing its social, economic and security structures and is in discussion with the interim Kyrgyz government on how best to help the country return to a democratic path.
