Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov Visits DC


U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today met Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov for a discussion on whole range of issues at Washington, DC.

Ms. Clinton welcomed the foreign minister of Kazakhstan, a country which the United States has very friendly relations and work together on a whole range of issues, both bilaterally and regionally and globally.

Ms. Clinton stated that Kazakhstan has served in recent years as the chair of the OSCE, the chair of OIC, and has been very helpful in U.S. efforts to stabilize Afghanistan.

She cites that she is pleased to have the opportunity to discuss at length some of the issues that both countries are working on together.

Foreign Minister Kazykhanov reaffirms that both countries will cover issues of stabilization in Afghanistan and its logistics support to the Northern Distribution Network, issues of trade investment and energy partnership, of greatest importance, and as well as the topics of visa simplification procedures.

Foreign Minister Kazykhanov says it is his first visit as a foreign minister to Washington, DC.

Foreign Minister Kazykhanov was previously ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Nations. He is married with two children.
