Iran’s Direct Role in The 2006 Samarra Shiite Shrine Bombing

General Casey’s revelation of Iran’s direct role in the 2006 Samarra Shiite shrine bombing.

The remarks of former Multi-National Forces commander in Iraq General Casey in the Iranian Resistance’s massive June 22nd gathering in Villepinte near Paris and the revelation of Iran’s direct role in the 2006 Samarra shrine bombing that led to an all-out devastating sectarian war in Iraq and left hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, was the main issue of this week’s speeches in Iraqi cities demonstrations. General Casey revealed that Iraqi PM Al-Maliki was aware of this crime.

General Casey added in his speech at the Conference that: “We saw from the beginning there was a close connection between the Quds Force and the Shiite militias. But we didn’t really begin to see the full impact of Iran’s influence until after the bombing of the al-Askari mosque in Samarra in February 2006. As our intelligence got better, as we conducted more raids on Iranian-backed militias, we discovered a particular type of improvised explosive device that was hand-made in Iran; we discovered the latest rocket propelled grenades and mortars and rockets that had writing on them in Farsi and had the dates when they were made. So it was clear that they had come recently from Iran. By mid-2006 there was no doubt that Iran was providing weapons and equipment to terrorist organizations inside Iraq.”
