Gary Gait is still widely regarded as the best lacrosse player of all time – just a smidge above his twin. Beginning as a true star at the NCAA level at Syracuse with his brother and receiving all the accolades we spoke about, Gait also started playing in the *Major Indoor Lacrosse League* in 1991, where he won the “Rookie of the Year Award.” Gary, as well as sharing and/or receiving all the outstanding lacrosse awards, also set the league record in the NLL for career points with 1,091. Can you believe that?! Upon announcing his retirement from lacrosse on December 30, 2005 at the “Pepsi Center” in Denver, the “Colorado Mammoth” lacrosse team raised Gary’s *lacrosse jersey #22 to the rafters, making him only the second player in NLL history to have his number retired. Gary was also honored in the opening game of the 2006 NLL season. Oddly enough, after having his lacrosse jersey go down in history, Gary shocked everyone by stepping back into a lacrosse uniform and returning to NLL play in January 2009 with the “Rochester Knighthawks.” This ‘move’ was like a twist of fate, considering his brother Paul had been named head coach of the “Knighthawks” in 2008, reuniting the brothers in the world of lacrosse once again. During the 2009 NLL season, Gary was named a reserve to the “All-Star Game,” and is currently serving as an assistant coach in the MLL, as well as being the head coach of the Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team.

Paul Gait is also regarded as one of the best lacrosse players of all time. Along with his twin, Paul had a stellar career wearing university lacrosse uniforms – to playing in the *National Lacrosse League*, and beyond. Being one of the best NCAA players of all time, Paul helped lead Syracuse to three national championships and was selected as a *First Team All America by the USILA three times in 1988, 1989, and 1990. Not to mention, Paul was also named the “Most Outstanding Player” of the 1989 “NCAA Division I Lacrosse Championship Tournament.”
Paul initially retired from lacrosse following the 2002 NLL season but – being half of the family unit who ‘plays together stays together’ – Paul returned during the 2005 NLL season to play for the “Colorado Mammoth” right beside his brother. Paul retired once again after the 2005 season had come to an end.
