Midweek Premiership & Champions League Games – A Gamblers Preview

soccer

After a succession of big payoffs from successful tips I have been asked by a few to share some tips for the many midweek games. So instead of sending them out to one and all, I figured I would discuss them here and direct everyone here instead!

I know that a vast amount of the readership won’t be able to follow these tips (not legally anyway) due to the US gambling laws, for which you have my deepest sympathy. To me gambling is just something that makes the games more exciting and makes the weekends come alive. I am one of the lucky few whose winnings outnumber any losses. Not enough to shout home about but enough to cover a weekend’s worth of boozing.

With Premiership and Champions League games scattered throughout the week there is plenty of places to stake your money and here is where mine will be going;

Wigan v Liverpool – Monday

This league game is a big one for Liverpool and with their side getting back to it’s full strength it will be one they will expect to take full advantage of. Liverpool can’t be trusted though and I think that a bet on a draw here would be fairly safe. The best odds for that are currently at 10/3.

It is always best to hedge your bets though so just incase things swing the other way I have my money on Kuyt to score first (11/2) and Torres to bag a brace (4/1), because if the Spaniard is on form and scores early, then anything can happen. With that in mind you might want to consider the bet of a Torres Hat Trick @ 20/1.

Portsmouth v Birmingham – Tuesday

I correctly predicted a Portsmouth win when these two met over the weekend and Pompy romped past Birmingham 2-0. That was the cup though and even though this is a mirrored game I expect things to turn out differently. I will have my money on Birmingham @ 7/4 for this.

Birmingham also have a good defense and both lack quality strikers and finishers. So I think there will certainly be less than 3 goals. So the -2.5 Handicap bet @ 8/13 is a short price but a safe bet.

Sunderland v Bolton – Tuesday

Sunderland have not shown any class or ability recently and Bolton win big when playing away to West Ham. They may find it hard to repeat that win but I think they will, so I will be going for a Bolton win @ 5/2.

Bookies are also offering a tasty treat on the First Goalscorer. They have big man Davies at 9/1, a bet I will be taking along with the bet for him to Score Anytime @ 11/4.

Burnley v Stoke – Wednesday

This to me has draw written all over it. Burnley have been poor and Stoke certainly have a lot more in their locker, but with home advantage and the need to ‘pull their finger out’ Burnley should stop a Stoke onslaught. So opt for a Draw @ 23/10.

Champions League

The second leg games of the Champions League can be very dodgy ones to predict with a lot of teams content to draw or lose – depending on the first leg result. But that can also work to the advantage of the gambler.

Arsenal v Porto – Tuesday

Arsenal are clear favorites to win this on the night so for a decent bet we have to look elsewhere. Struggling with injuries and with Arsenal needing at least one goal, this could become a goal feast. The bet of over 2.5 goals is sound – albeit short @ 17/20. And I think Porto will rattle Arsenal’s cage and nick a goal of their own so @ 5/6, the bet for both teams to score, is also a good one. If you can get these two, along with an Arsenal win, on atreble, then you could be sitting pretty.

Fiorentina v Bayern Munich – Tuesday

Bayern are the favorites to win this but Fiorentina are in the same position as Arsenal and just need a 1-0 win to go through. This game is a tough one, I wouldn’t really advise it but I personally couldn’t resist the bet on Fiorentina to Qualify @ 2/1.

Manchester United v AC Milan – Wednesday

Again we have some red hot favorites in the form of the Red Devils. They won away in the first leg so can relax a bit here. Manchester United have had a heavy schedule and although I don’t think AC Milan have played particularly well this season, I think they might just nick a draw on the night. It is enough for Man Utd to go through so if the score if tied with twenty minutes to play I can envisage them holding onto it.

Once again the bookies will be taking my money for that one with odds of 11/4.

Good luck to all.
