Chelsea Top After 7-0 Win, Burnley Relegated After 4-0 Defeat

Summary: Aston Villa stole a late win to continue their fight for fourth, Everton left it late, Chelsea moved back to the top and Burnley were relegated.

Four games were played in the Premiership this Sunday with a lot at stake for a few sides and some tears were sure to be shed at the end of this busy day.

Aston Villa beat local rivals Birmingham in an early kickoff (as reported in a previous article) after a controversial penalty, converted by Milner, gave them a 1-0 win ten minutes from Milner.

Burnley were hoping for a win at home to Liverpool and after forty-five minutes of decent football and a 0-0 scoreline, things were looking OK. They fell apart in the second half though with Gerrard scoring a brace before goals from Maxi and a very late one from Babel rounded off a 4-0 scoreline.

Everton were expected to win big against a depleted Fulham side at Goodison Park this afternoon but they made hard work of it. Despite dominating they were the ones to concede first when Nevland chipped over Howard to put Fulham in front. Everton came back after halftime though and equalized through Anichebe before they grabbed a last gasp penalty which was won by Cahill and converted by Arteta.

In the latest kickoff of the day Chelsea slaughtered Stoke City 7-0 to stay at the top of the League. Kalou grabbed the first two before Lampard converted a penalty before halftime to make it 3. Kalou rounded off his hattrick before the twenty minute mark, Lampard grabbed his second and the day ended with late goals from Sturridge and Malouda. A fine display from the potential champions.

There were some great games out there for the gamblers who would have been biting their nails all day, and we are promised some more spectacular games before the close of the season.
